Dushore

Dushore, PA
Region: Upstate PA

Dushore's unique location and close proximity to two of PA's most beautiful State Parks, Rickett's Glen and World's End, make it the perfect home-base for upstate PA activities. Known as the only stoplight in the area, businesses like the Jolly Trolley, Whistle Stop, Rail Car Shop, and Hotel Harrington reflect the town's railroad and ice cream history. Kast Pond is a perfect spot for fishing or a picnic. St Basil's Church, built by German immigrants, is a picturesque sight on the hill above the town. Founder's Day in August is a highlight of the summer. The outhouse races, keg races and a full day of events draw large crowds. There are several wineries within a 15-minute drive. Five miles from town, hikers can start on the Loyalsock Trail, part of the Appalachian Trail. Founded in 1859, the town is named after a Frenchman who ventured from France to Philadelphia to the French Asylum where he was given the area of Dushore to farm.
