Bald Eagle State Forest is made up of a series of sandstone ridges and deep valleys. Streams flow freely through the forest, many connecting to the Susquehanna River on the eastern boundary of the district. The forest also provides one of the few official ATV riding trails in the state, the East Kettle Trail. The Mid State Trail, a cross-country hiking trail, passes through a significant part of the forest.
