The village of Eckley was established in 1854 as a small, company-owned coal mining "patch" town. Its more than 160 years of history include being utilized for Paramount Studio's filming of the movie "The Molly Maguires" in the late 1960s. Today Eckley is a museum interpreting the lives of immigrant anthracite coal miners and their families. Come for a visit and experience life in a typical northeastern Pennsylvania coal patch town during the time when "coal was king."
