Scenery Hill is an artistic and historic village located along The National Road, also known as The National Pike and Route 40. The road was the first east to west federally funded road constructed within the United States where wagoners were abound, and was commissioned by Thomas Jefferson back in 1805. The third weekend of May is the annual National Road Festival that includes food, entertainment and more! The beautiful rural community has additional unique creative events such as the annual FREE Outdoor Film Series that incorporates unique pre-film events such as a pet fashion show competition and art making for families, as well the Heritage Festival in the Fall and Christmas Light Up Night. The town also has DIY workshops and lectures that encompasses talented individuals and businesses within the greater Pittsburgh region. Scenery Hill is also well known for its oldest continuously operating inn on the National Road known as the Century Inn, which has fine-dining French Cuisine, gardens, gorgeous rooms, and has hosted many famous visitors including Andrew Jackson, the Marquis de LaFayette, Henry Clay, James K. Polk, Mexican General Santa Anna, and some people even exclaim George Washington. Scenery Hill is about an hour west of Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water and 45-60 minutes south of Pittsburgh.
