Emlenton

Situated along the Allegheny River (2017 PA River of the Year), Emlenton is a recreational and sportsman destination. Small town American charm and history abound in this quaint NW Pennsylvania town. Emlenton is easily located off of Interstate 80 Exits 42 and 45. The River Avenue public boat launch and river access to the Allegheny River is one of only a few public accesses to the river. Look under the “little” bridge to find it. From here, you can start or end your river adventure. The Allegheny provides ample fishing opportunities for bass and walleye and other native fish. Or if you prefer, you can kayak, canoe or simply float on a raft. Rentals are available in town. The historic, former school building has been converted into a business center and is know as the Crawford Center. It now houses the Borough Offices, Police, District Magistrate Court as well as some community businesses, a museum and the visitor center. The Crawford Center is located at 511 Hill Street and can be seen from almost every vantage point in Emlenton. Emlenton is home to numerous small businesses including restaurants, a quilt shop, bike shop and more. Stay the night in your pick of lodging from bed and breakfast to motel or even camping. Then spend the day at the community park or municipal forest. Take a ride or stroll on the bike trail which follows the river and passes through old railroad tunnels like the Rockland Station Tunnel six miles north of town. If you can, visit during the Emlenton Summer Festival, held annually the second weekend of July. Enjoy entertainment, food, fireworks and a variety of contests, including a raft race, over this 3-day festival. There is sure to be something fun for everyone!
