Uniontown
Uniontown, PA
Region: Laurel Highlands
While our nation's founders were signing the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia, Uniontown's founders were establishing their town at the foot of Laurel Mountain - quite unaware of what was going on back east. Uniontown may be the only town in the U.S. to share a birthday with our nation, and so it is fitting that the National Road runs through it. Uniontown is a good base from which to explore the lush scenery and attractions of the Laurel Highlands. The town is close to two of Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpieces, Kentuck Knob and the better-known Fallingwater, as well as Fort Necessity National Battlefield, Laurel Caverns, Ohiopyle State Park, and Nemacolin Resort and Spa.
