Factory Tours in Pennsylvania

From coins and music instruments to potato chips and chocolate, many Pennsylvania factories offer tours and are the perfect places to find Made-in-PA keepsakes.

1. Wigle Whiskey

Pittsburgh

Spend your Saturdays tasting and touring one of Pittsburgh’s notable distilleries, Wigle Whiskey. Follow along as their team takes you through the entire process, from starting with organic, local grain to producing Wigle's award-winning rye and bourbon whiskey, and gin. Dive into some Pittsburgh history while on the tour and learn about the Steel City’s place in the Whiskey Rebellion.

2. Loch’s Maple

Springville

Each March, the public has the unique opportunity to see how maple syrup is produced at Loch’s Maple from the gathering of sap to the creation of syrups at the maple factory’s annual open house. The maple farm is open weekends from New Year’s through Easter; after that it’s best to call ahead for other dates and times.

3. Moka Origins

Honesdale

This factory tour is extra sweet. Moka Origins crafts ethically sourced chocolate and coffee that supports farmer training and helps plant trees in Cameroon — for every product sold they plant a tree. You can learn the origins of the cacao bean and how they handcraft their chocolate and roast their coffee during their factory tour. Join them every Saturday for their Free Saturday Tour and Tasting event where you’ll tour their bean-to-bar chocolate factory and coffee roastery. They’ll take you behind-the-scenes where you’ll learn the ins and outs of the artisanal chocolate and coffee making process with samples throughout. Make sure to take a treat home with you from their factory store which is open daily.

4. Hershey’s Chocolate World®

Hershey

Create your own candy bar, enjoy the Chocolate Tasting Experience, and take a historic journey through the town built on chocolate to learn the inspiring story of Milton Hershey on Hershey Trolley Works.

5. Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery

6. CJ Spirits

CJ Spirits uses Allegheny Mountain spring water and local grains to produce super-smooth vodka, gin, rum, and whiskey. Come for a visit to see the distilling process in action, then enjoy a free spirit tasting.

8. Yuengling® Brewery

At America’s oldest brewery, you can smell the beer in production, walk through the underground cave where kegs once cooled, and grab a stool at the bar for a glass of the classic lager.

9. Yards Brewing Company

Brewed in Philadelphia for 30 years, beers lovers can tour the 70,000-square-foot brewery at Yards Brewing Company. Guests will experience a behind-the-scenes look at how their ales and lagers, especially their historically accurate “Ales of the Revolution” - a series of beers made using original colonial recipes from our Founding Fathers - are made. Visitors will have a front row seat to watch skilled artisans and craftsman create one-of-a-kind, made in PA gifts. Following a self-guided tour of the production and history center, shop the Flagship store all located in the same building.

13. Zippo/Case Museum

Bradford

While you won’t see Zippo’s world-famous lighters being manufactured, you can watch as master craftsmen work to fix all but the most mangled lighters at the Repair Clinic in the Zippo/Case Museum. Tour the museum to gain an appreciation of the ingenuity and fine craftsmanship that have gone into the production of every Zippo lighter and Case knife ever made.

14. Byers’ Choice® Carolers

Chalfont

Snips of her kids’ hair and an old fur coat gave way to Joyce Byers’ first Christmas caroler figurine collectibles. Now you can watch dozens of their skilled artisans create the carolers in Chalfont.
