Explore Gettysburg: Where History Comes to Life

Nestled in the rolling hills of south-central Pennsylvania, Gettysburg represents a pivotal chapter in American history—the turning point of the Civil War. In partnership with the National Park Service, the Gettysburg Foundation manages the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center and is dedicated to preserving the battlefield and educating visitors about its lasting significance.

Step Into History at Gettysburg National Military Park

With more than 1,300 monuments and memorials, Gettysburg National Military Park provides a profound connection to the battle, those who fought, the caregivers who tended to the wounded, and the civilians who endured its aftermath. Beyond history books and films, walking these hallowed grounds offers a powerful perspective on the past and its relevance today.

Your journey starts at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center, the official beginning for exploring the battlefield. Here, a single ticket provides access to three immersive experiences:

  • Film: A New Birth of Freedom – Narrated by Morgan Freeman, this powerful film provides context for the battle and Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
  • Cyclorama – Enter the immense 360-degree painting of Pickett’s Charge, which brings the battle’s intensity to life.
  • Museum of the American Civil War – Explore rare artifacts, interactive exhibits and personal stories that reveal the war’s impact.

From here, take a guided battlefield tour led by a Licensed Battlefield Guide, whether by bus or car. Stand where Union and Confederate soldiers clashed, hear stories of strategy and sacrifice, and see the landmarks that shaped history.
