You can explore Mother Nature’s playground for days on end when you rent a cabin or campsite in the Allegheny National Forest (ANF) or a nearby Pennsylvania State Park. You’ll find cabins ranging from primitive and rustic to deluxe and luxurious, along with and scenic campgrounds offering both tent and RV campsites, a full range of amenities, and many nearby attractions for the entire family to enjoy. Pick your pleasure at any of these outdoor camping sites.
1. Allegheny Site Management (ASM)

Allegheny Site Management, Inc. (ASM) oversees numerous lodging options at 20 locations throughout the ANF that range from primitive campsites to “tiny houses” and rustic cabins to developed campsites offering a host of amenities and recreational activities for both tent and RV campers. Enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, fishing and fly fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing, along with ice fishing, cross country skiing, and sledding in winter as conditions allow. Some sites are open year-round, while others are open only from spring through the fall.
2. Kane RV Sites
Kane
Located along Pennsylvania’s scenic and storied Route 6 that runs the entire length of northern PA, the Kane RV Sites are surrounded by the beauty of the Allegheny National Forest and open year round. Grab a bike and some hiking boots as you prepare to go hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, boating, canoeing, and kayaking during the warmer weather and snowmobiling and other snowy activities when the winter winds blow. You’ll have the convenience of outdoor recreation at your doorstep!
3. Fair Winds Cabins
Cooksburg
Enjoy the splendor of nature at Fair Winds Cabins located near Cook Forest State Park, Clear Creek State Park, and the Allegheny National Forest. Each of their seven cabins is fully equipped with a kitchen, bath with shower, and heat and air conditioning. In summer, enjoy hiking, biking, and other fun outdoor activities. In winter, cross-country ski and snowshoe in Clear Creek State Park; sled, ice skate, and cross-country ski in Cook Forest; and snowmobile and enjoy other winter activities in the ANF.
4. Kiasutha Campground
Kane
Kiasutha Campground sits on the Kinzua Arm of the Allegheny Reservoir in the Allegheny National Forest with 90 family campsites and an abundance of recreational water activities with a large, grassy beach for swimming and relaxing. Open from late May through early September, the campsite’s boat ramp and dock allow guests to enjoy the vast lake for boating and a paved trail leads to an accessible fishing pier.
5. Red Bridge Recreation Area
Bradford
The Red Bridge Recreation Area is located nine miles northwest of Kane, PA on the eastern shore of Kinzua Bay, a southern branch of the Allegheny Reservoir with campsites and cabins available from early April through late October. A fun fact for the history buffs among us: The recreation area is located near the site of a former Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) unit known as Camp #3, which was used as a German Prisoner-of-War Camp in World War II.
6. Kinzua East KOA
Bradford
Kinzua East KOA offers family-friendly cabins and campsites from mid-April through mid-October — a great location for camping getaways! Fish the nearby 12,000-acre Allegheny Reservoir for record-breaking pike and walleye or hike the many woodland trails.
7. Tracy Ridge Campground
Bradford
Operated by Allegheny Site Management, the Tracy Ridge Campground’s 45 spacious, tree-shaded campsites are open April through mid-December. This is a more primitive campsite with vault toilets, no shower facilities, and limited handpump water available. If you’re up for a hike, the Tracy Ridge Hiking Trails System leads to the Allegheny Reservoir, which is about five miles away from the campground, and also links up with the North Country National Scenic Trail. One feature of the trails is the large, scenic rock formations along their routes. Get set to venture out and make some rockin’ memories!
8. Willow Bay Recreation Area
Bradford
Searching for a natural area with fishing, hiking, biking, and boating? The Willow Bay Campground has just what you and your family need. An ideal place to enjoy the variety of Pennsylvania wildlife, the campground offers 101 family campsites with large, well-shaded picnic areas and 11 small, rustic cabins each with heat and electricity. While the campground is open year round, water and the shower house are only available from mid-April through October.
9. Camp Wilderness
Shinglehouse
With 600 acres, Camp Wilderness offers a year-round, cabin escape into the beauty of rural Pennsylvania with an expansive front porch providing scenic views of the valley below. While billed as a “Rustic Cabin,” it offers a host of amenities including a full bath, kitchen with all the modern appliances, heat and air conditioning, a satellite High Definition TV, and free WiFi. Enjoy more than 15 miles of private trails for hiking, horseback or ATV riding, archery, and mountain biking in summer, and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in winter. There’s no limit to the adventures you’ll find here!
10. Willow Creek Cabin Rentals

Escape to an internet and cellphone service free zone at Willow Creek. While “technology-free,” their cabins and campers boast many of today’s creature comforts including electricity, kitchens, and televisions with dvd player. They are open year-round for you to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, such as world class fishing and hunting, hiking, sightseeing, and riding ATVs through the forest.
11. Woodhaven Acres Campground & Cabins
Bradford
Surround yourself in quiet, shaded lots at the campsites of Woodhaven Acres Campground & Cabins, conveniently located only five minutes from the shoreline of the Allegheny Reservoir. The cabins are open year-round keeping you warm and toasty in winter months with their well-insulated walls and automatic electric wall heaters, perfect after a day of snowmobiling and other winter activities. In summer months, enjoy a day filled with the great outdoors then roast some tasty marshmallows around the fire ring to end your day of adventures.
12. Forest Ridge Cabins & Campgrounds
Marienville
Nestled on the western edge of the Allegheny National Forest, Forest Ridge Cabins & Campgrounds is a family-oriented campground that offers large, shaded sites and full-facility cabins with private hot tubs, a heated outdoor swimming pool, free Wi-Fi, and cell phone service. You and the squad will be just minutes from Cook Forest State Park and Loleta Recreation Area with the Clarion River not far beyond.
13. Black Bear Cabins
Cooksburg
Camp in comfort and stay in one of the cozy cabin hideaways offered by Black Bear Cabins. Located just south of the beautiful Cook Forest State Park, these cabins offer spacious rooms and lots of amenities, including wood burning fireplaces, full kitchens stocked with cooking utensils and cutlery, bathrooms, and forced air heating for year-round comfort. They also offer wonderful on-site dining options with menus crafted with in-season, organic foods from local foragers and sustainable farmers, as well as a curated wine list.
14. Cook Forest Top Hill Cabins

Located in Cook Forest State Park, the Cook Forest Top Hill Cabins are available to rent year-round and are within a relatively short driving distance of the Allegheny National Forest! Take a quick trip to explore the surrounding scenic beauty with miles and miles of hiking and biking trails for never-ending adventure possibilities in summer, and excursions into the ANF’s winter wonderland.
15. The Forest Lodge & Campground
Marienville
The Forest Lodge & Campground offers direct trail access for ATVs, snowmobilers, and dirt bike enthusiasts. During the ATV/OHM riding season, they even sell daily and annual ATV/OHM passes, though you are on your own for snowmobile registrations. Their grounds also offer scenic views of the Allegheny National Forest, so make sure to pack your hiking shoes in summer and cross-country skis in winter because there’s a lot of exploring to do!
16. Hominy Ridge Lodge and Cabins
Clarington
Hominy Ridge Lodge and Cabins is located on seven private, wooded acres in Cook Forest State Park with the Clarion River just a minute away. You can enjoy numerous activities no matter the season, especially by venturing out into the scenic surrounding woods.
17. Potter County Gasthaus

Located in the heart of the Oswayo Valley, the Potter County Gasthaus has five unique rooms that will sleep up to 10 guests with a full range of activities. The Gasthous is open in all but the winter months. Explore 120 acres of private land as well as the adjacent State Game Lands where eagles, deer, bear, fox, and turkeys live. Activities include hunting, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing.
18. High Pines RV Park

The High Pines RV Park offers 40 pull-through RV sites and is just minutes from the Allegheny National Forest and Kinzua Bridge State Park with a limited number of sites and amenities open year-round. The campground is a great spot to set up shop for a vacation filled with incredible vistas and outdoor adventures.
19. Wapiti Woods Guest Cabins
Weedville
Located in the heart of the Pennsylvania Wilds, the 10 Wapiti Woods Guest Cabins offer a cozy stay surrounded by nature’s beauty. With electric baseboard heat and a wood burning fireplace, the cabins are available to rent year round. Located close to Elk and Moshannon State Forests, the modern guest cabins provide the perfect place for peace and quiet and an ideal location for elk watching.
20. Whispering Winds Campground & Cabins
Sheffield
Round up your family and friends to enjoy the beautiful mountain views and the great outdoors at the Whispering Winds Campground. Listen to the babbling brook and the trees rustling in the wind during your peaceful hike or explore the many scenic attractions in the Allegheny National Forest. The campground officially opens on Mar. 31, but you may be able to rent a campsite or one of their three cabins in winter months.
